Rachel Sugar

I don't usually post pictures of myself especially ones taken first thing in the morning with out taking a shower but this moment was worth remembering.
Rachel climbed up behind me on the office chair as I was working on cannery stuff and uploading video of her telling Jared and Julia that Cami's baby was a girl when she hugged me from behind and put her soft cheek against mine and said, "Pretty soon Cami is going to be feeling just what you feel" and I said, "What's that?" Rachel replied, "Just how much her little girl loves her!" It really doesn't get any sweeter than that!!!

It's a GIRL!

Last Wednesday night I went with my son, Brandon, his wife Cami and Cami's Mom, Terri to the ultra-sound for Cami's pregnancy...the most exciting part was hearing that the baby is a GIRL! When I saw that picture of the baby's hand, it brought tears to my eyes because I could "see" how that little hand would one day lay against my son's cheek as little Zoe loved on her Daddy. Cami is just 18 weeks and the baby weighs about 8 oz.! She was so active during the ultra-sound; we saw her yawn and move her little arms and legs around. We joked that she "took after her Daddy" because she stubbornly would not move so that they could get a good picture of the spine. Cami ended up having to go back the next morning to finish the ultra sound. August 23rd seems like forever away!!! These videos are of Rachel telling Sheldon and then later Jared and Julia that the baby is a GIRL! Julia definitely won the prize for most excited!

New Old Favorite Dolly

Last Saturday we washed one of Rachel's very first dollies...she was so happy to see her sweet little "baby" so clean and pretty again.

Bread Heaven

Last Thursday while Julia and I were sitting outside in the back yard talking, Rachel came out eating the homemade wheat bread that Jamie had made us. She was telling me, "Mom, this bread is soooo delicious! MMMMMMMM" By the last picture she had gone to fresh homebaked bread heaven.

My Crazy Kids

This is what my crazy kids did last Tuesday...it was a sunny day but the pool water was still freezing; they didn't seem to care though. Rachel was feeling better Tuesday and asked all day if she could get in the pool since she missed out on Monday. She likes to get in nice and slow unlike Jared and Julia who want to just jump in and shock themselves with the cold.

David wanted to swim today too but very soon was shivering and wanting out.

I love David's technique to block the sun as I am telling him to give me a smile.
Rachel was so happy to finally get to swim.

Rachel rescued the water can that David threw in the pool...he has a nasty habit of thinking it is funny to throw things in the pool; it drives me nuts.
Happy or pained look on her face, I'm not sure which it is!
Jared asked me, "Mom do I look dorky with my goggles on?" I said, "Of course you don't Jared". I love being a Mom...it can be so funny sometimes.
Other funny things I have heard my kids say lately:

Julia to Jared- "You're so furry now!"

On the way to Grammy's in the car we smelled a skunk and David yelled, "What's that yucky bacon smell?!!! (You probably had to be there but we all thought it was hysterical).

All Caught Up

When Cami came for dinner on Sunday we were talking about how great it was going to be that she started her blog when she was still pregnant. I commented that I hadn't been doing a very good job of keeping mine up-to-date and Cami agreed a little too vehemently...so to liven up Cami's lunch hour at work, I've tried very hard this week to catch up on all the happening over the last few months and with this Valentines Day smilebox I feel pretty caught up now. See what I do to make you happy Cami?! Anything for my favorite daughter-in-law!

Playing with Mommy's Camera

This smile box is of some pictures I found on my camera a few weeks ago...Rachel, What part of "DON'T PLAY WITH MOMMY'S CAMERA!" do you not understand; cute pics of David though...(just ignore my dirty laundry in the background and messy office).

Spoiled or Loved?

This is why David is soooo spoiled about going to bed. Sheldon gets home late from work most nights but wants to spend time with his baby boy and loves to snuggle David on the couch. David has gotten so use to this arrangement that when you want him to be like a normal four year old and go to bed and stay in bed he acts like you are punishing him...and when I complain to Sheldon that he needs to put David to bed (when he is asleep) and he says, "but I want to cuddle him", what's a Mommy to do? Both Sheldon and I have become such "softies" in our old age!

David's KinderGym

David started KinderGym last month so he wouldn't be such a little couch potato; he has so much fun and leaves there sweaty and tired, its been great for him. He was so funny when he was first going to class; he said to me, "Why are all these girls in their swimming suits?"

Rachel- We'll Bring the World His Truth

Rachel sang me the "Armies of Helaman" song as part of her reading last Thursday. I thought she did wonderful but because she stumbled over a few words on the second verse she was mad at herself; she's such a little perfectionist sometimes and gets easily frustrated when things are hard for her but I love to see the process she goes through of being frustrated but then as she keeps trying, feeling great about what she accomplishes. The second video she stumbles a little bit but tries her best and you can tell from the happy smile at the end she is proud of herself. I so love to watch that!

Busy Saturday in February

I've not been very good at keeping my blog up-to-date the last few months...This smilebox is of a busy fun day we had in February. Sheldon took the day off of work, Jared had belt testing for Taekwondo and advanced to Red/Black belt. David was so cute at lunch giving Jared and Julia his "carrot kisses" and then we went to the Sacramento Train Museum because it was free museum day in Sacramento then to end the day we went to this fun educational toy store near the museum where Julia bought some pretty rocks and the kids planted some tomato seeds but before we went home we checked out a cool candy store.

Keeping Pool Tradition

Last year the first swim day was March 15th...Jared didn't go swimming with Julia and Erinn in February so he wanted to make sure he kept the tradition of swimming by March 15th; lucky for him it was a gorgeous sunny day! The kids helped with transplanting some strawberries which got them hot and sweaty and ready for a swim.
Jared jumped in first and then Julia followed. Rachel doesn't seem to be feeling that great today so she just dangled her feet in the water a little bit and David did the same.
Julia teasing David she was going to throw him in after he was teasing her that he splashed her.

My columnar peach tree behind Rachel is gorgeous right now...so looking forward to some fresh peaches this year!

Rachel all tuckered out and taking a little rest in the warm sun.

This first video is when Jared jumped in for the first time and then the second video is Jared and Julia doing cannon balls together...kind of!

Cami came over for Sunday dinner last night, Sheldon fixed his delicious pork with apples and red onions and then he made chocolate lava cake for dessert...soooo delicious! Our home teachers brought us over some beautiful daffodils yesterday too (thanks Jill!), they reminded me of looking out my dinning room window in Pine Grove at the hundreds of daffodils in my neighbors yard. Rachel and David woke up this morning and were so excited to see one of the flowers had opened! It's a beautiful sunshiny day today and life seems great especially since I don't have to worry about giving that talk in church anymore!!!

Cami and Brandon have a big announcement, find out what it is here http://camimaughan.blogspot.com

New Beginnings

Julia ready to head off to Young Women's. This was the night for "New Beginnings". Daddy had to take her alone because I stayed home with David while he had some kind of stomach flu...it was my turn to be sick the next night.
Julia had me straighten her hair; she looked beautiful but way too old. Time seems like it is in fast forward.

Wasn't it just yesterday she looked like this???

Julia! Your Leg is Brown!

These pictures were from a week ago Sunday...At church in Sacrament meeting David was coloring with crayons when one of his crayons fell on the floor by Julia's foot. David bent down to pick the crayon up off the floor and while he was down there he looked at Julia's leg and said, "Julia! YOUR LEG IS BROWN!" Then he took both hands and started feeling her leg trying to figure out why it was so brown and weird feeling, (she was wearing pantyhose of course!) It was hard to quiet David as Julia and I were having a hard time being quiet ourselves laughing at David's incredulous little voice, "Julia! Your leg is brown!"

Amanda Lynn came over after church on Sunday for a visit and one of Julia's forehead massages. (David took this picture)
